While some of those who run shuttered music venues have been suffering in silence, waiting desperately for the day that they can once again open up to the public, others have been busy using the enforced downtime profitably.
Take the Moon here in Cardiff, for instance, which will have undergone a significant transformation by the time that punters next walk through the doors. Meanwhile, across Womanby Street at Clwb Ifor Bach, plans for bricks-and-mortar expansion have understandably (if frustratingly) been put on ice, but the team haven't been twiddling their thumbs - on the contrary, they've just launched Clwb Music, comprising "an artist management team, record label and publishing company".
The venue has long been at the absolute heart of the music scene in Cardiff (and indeed in Wales as a whole), but this venture is intended to ensure that Clwb makes an even larger contribution to the essential infrastructure that up-and-coming Welsh artists need to find their feet, thrive and be heard beyond the border. Here's hoping that the bold plans and generosity of spirit pay off.
