The unlikely language of love

Gary Barlow once sang of using "a million love songs" as a means of communicating his romantic feelings. I wonder whether he tried 'Stabbed In The Face' by Wolf Eyes?

Not the first track that springs to mind, admittedly, but, as he explains in this Guardian article, it helped to cement John Doran's nascent relationship with his partner Maria: "[I]ts howling feedback and tinnitus machine noise sounded like a celebratory, ecstatic, love-filled symphony. People might think we're being juvenile by saying 'Stabbed In The Face' is our song, but it is the soundtrack of an incredibly joyous, optimistic time."

Among the other contributors to the article, Doran's fellow Quietus co-founder Luke Turner writes about Einsturzende Neubauten and Tim Jonze recalls the role of Public Image Ltd's 'This Is Not A Love Song' (ironically) in bringing him and his partner together.

I have a similar story: the proper post-midnight first dance at our wedding was to Eels' 'It's A Motherfucker' - a song we both love and fell in love over, even though it's about the death of E's mother.
