My first encounter with The Bug Club came in July 2022, at a hometown (or thereabouts) show as they were gearing up to release debut album Green Dream In F#. Three and a half years later, in a venue across the street and in the company of The Family Battenberg, there was little or no trace of that album's material in the set, which just goes to show the lightning pace at which the band have been working. One thing has stayed the same, though: a Bug Club show is a pure joyride. Buzz review here.
Hats off to those behind the Outline initiative, which certainly seems to be fulfilling its remit of catalysing energy and enthusiasm around Newport's music scene.
