Published to mark the 40th anniversary of the so-called Battle of Orgreave, arguably the single most important incident of the Miners' Strike, musician Mark Fell has written this fantastic piece for the Quietus, reflecting on the industrial context of his formative years, the social and political turbulence of the time, expressing resistance through music (especially reggae and dub) and the false promises of technological advancement.
