Five words guaranteed to instantly make my ears prick up: "The Day Today team reunite". Unfortunately, it's not to record a new series, or even a one-off special a la Brass Eye. (That would have been great, even if - as is so often noted, including around these parts - in the era of fake news and absurd stories, satire increasingly struggles to trump reality. Not that Chris Morris would agree, mind.) No, it's for a Radio 4 retrospective to mark the 30th anniversary of On The Hour, the radio series that gave birth to the TV show. Even more disappointingly, anchorman Morris is not involved, and neither is Rebecca Front.
Still, the programme - set to air on 15th August - is bound to be worth tuning in for, and will no doubt have me roaring away as well as regretting once more my decision to pass up the opportunity to analyse The Day Today for a student essay more than two decades ago.
