As someone who wrote in praise of Glenn Edwards' photographic celebration of the A470, I was naturally drawn to Matthew Harry's portraits of another iconic Welsh arterial route, the A465 aka the Heads of the Valleys road.
As Paul Cabuts' accompanying essay makes clear, to look at Harry's photographs and/or to actually travel along the route is to connect with both the past and the present. The A465 is a reminder of what the Romans, the Industrial Revolution and (sniff) the European Union did for us.
