It was inevitable, really, that when a teenage prankster placed random objects (a pair of glasses, a bin, baseball cap) in the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, people would mistake them for exhibits. It was equally inevitable that the museum would respond on Twitter by making a good-humoured reference to Marcel Duchamp.
It's all been done before, though - not least by one of my school classmates in a gallery in Dusseldorf in 1994...
