Low prices don't mean treating staff cheaply
Another reason to shop at Lidl: they've announced they're introducing the higher minimum wage as recommended by the Living Wage Foundation, rather than the lower amount that the Tories are bringing in, spuriously branded as the "National Living Wage". It's an admirably bold and unprecendented move within the supermarket sector, and hopefully might shame competitors into following suit. With their partnership model and general commitment to happy and engaged staff, you'd hope Waitrose (and indeed John Lewis as a whole) will be next.
