Unlikeliest news of the day: photos taken by former Buzzcocks drummer John Maher have inspired a plan to renovate hundreds of abandoned homes in the Western Isles. Though it's equally bizarre to learn that since quitting the music industry, Maher has set up in business building high-performance car engines. A man of many talents, clearly.
