Good luck to Nottingham in its bid to be named a UNESCO City of Literature - and not only because I'd like to see my old haunt get a higher cultural profile, or because author David Belbin, a friend of a friend, is spearheading the bid. Given the way that arts awards and funding tends to benefit the well-off, as Belbin points out, it's encouraging to note that this bid is inclusive and focuses on boosting literacy in the city.
