"Killing everything they touch"

"Walk around a university campus and there is an almost palpable smell of death about the place because academics are busy killing everything they touch".

So suggested Geoff Dyer in one of the most memorable (personally, at least) lines from his non-biography of D H Lawrence, 'Out Of Sheer Rage'.

Nice, then, to see the potentially deathly touch of academic dissection acknowledged in a self-explanatory book title I came across today, the forthcoming collection of essays edited by Brian Cogan titled 'Oh My God, They Deconstructed South Park! Those Bastards!'...

There are some things that just don't need to be intensely analyzed. Additionally, I am completely jealous that someone out there is managing to make money by deconstructing South Park. Clearly, I've chosen the wrong career path.
