Quote of the day

"I'm sure I'm not alone in the arts world, though I'm at the higher end of the sports intolerance scale. Maybe work on the latest Antony Gormley piece or Doris Lessing novel or David Hare play stops every now and again and a few cans of Tennent's are cracked open as a qualifier is played. But somehow I doubt it".

Mark Ravenhill on the arts / sports divide in Britain, in a comment piece inspired by the fight for funding precipitated by the government's need to make up the shortfall in the Olympic budget.
