Thank fuck for Neil Young. The news that he had threatened to remove his music from Spotify in protest at the streaming platform's support for Joe Rogan's disinformation-peddling podcast was a welcome reminder that not every ageing rock star is an anti-vax loon (hello there Van Morrison, Eric Clapton and Ian Brown!) and that some retain their decency, sanity and principles.
Trying to force Spotify's hand doesn't seem to have worked, though - they've begun removing his back catalogue, thereby implicitly supporting Rogan. It'll be interesting to see if anyone else of significant stature follows Young's lead - if there's a critical mass, then Spotify may have to change their tune.
