I'm not tarring all hip hop with the materialistic brush, but Vanity Fair's chart of the brands Jay-Z name-drops in songs certainly suggests the criticism can be justifiably levelled at him. There are noticeably fewer mentions of Glock and Kel-Tec on recent albums - proof perhaps that he's no longer keeping it real and has come some way from the mean streets of the 'hood.
