Beans means violence

A tale of violent scenes at the Indoor Market in Birmingham (which, to be fair, has probably seen more than its fair share of violence). Frankly, though, I'm confused: was the brawl "sparked" by the can of beans in question, as the headline suggests, or "ended" by it, as the article itself goes on to claim? It's also unclear whether the incident involved several cans of beans, or just the one. No marks to the Birmingham Mail for clarity or investigative journalism.
