Areligious conversion

Is religion going the way of the dodo? Yes, if a group of American researchers is to be believed. The evidence of census data gathered in the last 100 years in no fewer than nine different countries, including Ireland, suggests that religion is set for extinction there. So much for the conventional wisdom (which, as an atheist, I generally subscribe to) about people continuing to fall back on some kind of faith as a crutch.

But what of the UK? Might the latest census indicate a similar trend taking place here? Perhaps - if respondents heed the recommendation of the British Humanist Association and declare themselves to have no religious affiliation rather than proclaiming to be Jedis...
