On the one hand, it's pleasing to see Bamburgh named by Which? Travel as Britain's best seaside destination for the third year in succession. Little wonder, with THAT beach, THAT castle and the village as a whole. Growing up in Northumberland and spending whole days there as kids during the summer holidays, we probably didn't appreciate how lucky we were - even if the temperature of the North Sea is more conducive to hypothermia than a leisurely dip.
But on the other, the publicity will ensure that Bamburgh's even less of a well-kept secret - a potential problem, given that part of its appeal is that it's not in crowded, congested Cornwall or Devon.
