A mad dog and an Englishman

As politicians' denials go, it isn't quite as bad as having to dispel rumours that you once fucked a dead pig's mouth - but "Heseltine: I did not kill my mother's Alsatian" nevertheless reads like something straight off The Day Today. What is it with the Tories and the apparently insatiable desire to squeeze the life out of the defenceless and vulnerable?
