Reflections on reflection

"How are Trump supporters so seemingly unaware of his lies and bullshit, and the ridiculousness of many of his positions and ideas?" The answer to that very pertinent question, Talking Heads frontman David Byrne suggests in a new essay, is because they live in an echo chamber constructed by social media in which they're insulated from the "real world" and constantly exposed only to viewpoints much the same as their own.

Byrne does acknowledge, however, that those of us on the left of the political spectrum shouldn't be too smug about pointing this out - after all, we could often be accused of living inside bubbles ourselves.
