Right time, write place
Congratulations to my old stomping ground Nottingham on being named a UNESCO City of Literature - and in particular to friend-of-a-friend David Belbin, who headed up the city's bid. Nice to see a year's hard work paying off. As he's said, though, it's now that "the hard work begins". The honour isn't simply a matter of boosting Nottinghan's attractiveness for writers and investment - it is also hoped that it will help to improve literacy levels across the city.
