Great release
Another year, another anniversary to commemorate. This time, it's the tenth birthday of LCD Soundsystem's debut album. Ryan Leas' reflections on the record for Stereogum make for interesting reading, though I don't entirely agree with him. While it's true that LCD Soundsystem doesn't cohere particularly well (unsurprising given its genesis), I don't subscribe to the view that it "doesn’t reach the heights of Sound Of Silver or This Is Happening" or that it feels "like a sketch for what came later". Certainly, Sound Of Silver is superb, but I'd still be hard-pushed to rank it above an album that contains the likes of 'Losing My Edge', 'Movement', 'Yeah' (both versions) and 'Daft Punk Is Playing At My House'. And as for swansong This Is Happening, regular readers will know that it didn't meet a positive reception round these parts...
