Oh the humanity. The government has decided that operations to rescue migrants stranded at sea have "an unintended ‘pull factor’, encouraging more migrants to attempt the
dangerous sea crossing and thereby leading to more tragic and
unnecessary deaths" and therefore British support should be withdrawn. Far be it from me to point out that this withdrawal will lead to "tragic and unnecessary deaths"...
It's coming to something when a Tory policy is not only criticised by the Torygraph but explicitly likened to one of the BNP's proposed measures.
