A student renouncing her support for UKIP wouldn't really constitute news if it wasn't for the fact that Sanya-Jeet Thandi did so on the Guardian's blog, and was formerly a prominent member of the party's youth wing Young Independence, having spoken at their 2012 party conference and represented them on Channel 4 News.
There are of course any number of reasons not to vote for UKIP in the forthcoming European elections - the rank hypocrisy of employing cheap eastern European labour to disseminate their leaflets, for instance, or their attempt to use the law to prevent people from examining the detail of their policies online...
