Photographer Mark Nixon's series Much Loved presents intimate and touching portraits of stuffed childhood toys, many looking like the war wounded. Alongside the one-eared or one-eyed bears, and the ragged, leprous-looking Joey, my own faithful friend - Dody the threadbare dolphin - would fit in perfectly.
Stuffed toys aren't just for children, though - they're also suitable companions for lonely Japanese diners, apparently. So far, so Lars And The Real Girl - but to be honest, sitting face-to-face with a sinister and silent Moomin would put me off my food.
