Ring ring

There generally comes a time in your life when you start sacrificing fashion for practicality, and when being sensible takes over. I'm already well into that phase, though I still refuse to invest in either a pair of slippers or a pair of gigworthy earplugs. My reluctance to succumb to the latter is, no doubt, the result of daft macho pride, a determination to pitch myself against whatever the band on stage can throw at me. However, reading this article on the dangers of prolonged exposure to excessive noise levels, combined with an acceptance of my already mild tinnitus, should really be enough to convince me of my folly. If not, then the Swans gig in Reading next month might just do the trick...

I use a pair similar to these - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Elacin-ACS-Etymotic-Musicians-Earplugs/dp/B0015DLLSG/ref=tag_stp_s2_edpp_url

Keep them in a small key ring case so they're always in my pocket. I would feel very uncomfortable at loud gigs without them now.

Swans was the loudest thing I've ever heard, I recommend you give in by then for sure.
