You've got to feel sorry for the Jessops employee Jen spoke to at lunchtime to find out if a gift voucher we have would still be honoured. "We'll be able to let you know in a few days", came the reply. A couple of hours later and he will have discovered that "a few days" was more time than the stricken company had, and he is one of over 1300 people now out of a job.
You don't have to feel sorry for the firm, though. The reason the voucher had gone unspent for so long was because all of the best deals were only available online and yet bizarrely there was no facility for paying with vouchers on their website. We simply weren't prepared to waste the voucher paying stupidly over the odds instore. And now Jessops go to the grave, taking a £50 wedding present with them. So, to be frank, fuck 'em.
