Uncovered

Last month I commented on how bizarre it was for Iggy Pop - the ever-so-slightly unhinged frontman of The Stooges who has been and remains as much a danger to himself as to others - to be advertising insurance. So it was with some amusement that I read that the company actually refuses to insure musicians.

Swiftcover have claimed, weaselly, that he appears in the adverts as "an actor" who "loves life" rather than as a musician, but the Advertising Standards Authority, acting on a handful of complaints, are currently deciding whether the ads are misleading.

The story even made the 'Channel 4 News', which was entertaining for the fact that the short report ended with the announcement "Mr Pop has been unavailable for comment", if nothing else...
