Tet offensive

Artists aren't just at loggerheads with streaming services over paltry royalty rates - it seems it's record labels too. Domino have always been among the good guys, consistently putting out quality releases - but their ongoing legal wrangling with Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet, which has seen them take the dramatic step of pulling three of his albums from streaming platforms, has left a bitter taste in the mouth.

In a recent article for Pitchfork, Marc Hogan explained the grounds of this specific dispute and its development over time in some detail, but his piece also hinted at the bigger picture, suggesting that such disagreements are likely to become more common because analogue-age contracts simply aren't fit for purpose in the digital era.
