Of course, the funniest thing about John Moe's McSweeney's article that's been doing the rounds is that none of the featured groups are actually "sad dad bands" at all. Very droll.
"Sad dad bands" are stuff like Dire Straits, Genesis, Santana, Cream, The Eagles, right?
By contrast, this lot - REM, The Arcade Fire, The National, LCD Soundsystem - are what all the cool, hip young things like me are listening to. Yeah, me - a 44-year-old world-wearied dad with a well-worn pair of slippers, whose weekends currently consist mainly of endless traipsing around bathroom shops. Actually, hang on a minute...
