Hardly news, but Donald Trump's complete lack of self-awareness (or, alternatively, his sheer gall)really is incredible, isn't it? In the wake of the suspect packages delivered to prominent critics, he's complained about the "constant negative and oftentimes false attacks and stories". This from the man who has just claimed that there is rioting in California over so-called "sanctuary cities" - a claim that is manifestly false and yet hasn't been acknowledged as such by either Trump or his staff.
Even more laughable, arguably, is his plea for what the BBC referred to as "more civility in public life". Trump has insisted: "Those engaged in the political arena must stop treating political opponents as being morally defective." With his petty insults and childish taunts, the fluorescent-orange windbag is himself primarily responsible for reducing politics to the level of the playground.
