"Che Guevara and Debussy to a disco beat"

Another day, another great Toppermost post to recommend. This time the subjects are the Pet Shop Boys, author Stuart Huggett doing a great job of giving an overview of the duo's extensive career. Put it together with Luke Turner's enthusiastic appraisal of the reissued versions of their first three albums Please, Actually and Introspective ("a blueprint for everything that pop music can and should be") and you have a compelling case for their brilliance. Sod the sniffy indie attitude that suggests Morrissey had a monopoly on arch, cutting social commentary in the 1980s.
