Intimidating curmudgeon though he may be, Mark E Smith must nevertheless be an interviewer's dream. As this piece by Tony Dewhurst of the Bolton News illustrates, all you need to do is feed him key words - "television", "politics", "modern technology" - and watch him go.
I have it on good authority that his autobiography Renegade is well worth a read. What would be fascinating would be his thoughts on Morrissey's own memoir, or perhaps even on Moz's novel...
