People are strange

It would be extremely easy (albeit justified) to make a scathingly critical film about Scientology - so the prospect of a "nuanced" portrayal, as Louis Theroux claims is the case with My Scientology Movie, is intriguing, especially as his approach made it difficult to show the human, sympathetic side of followers. One to look out for when it hits general release soon.

And from a film featuring one national treasure talking to crackpots to another. This article was a timely reminder that Alan Bennett's The Lady In The Van is out next month. Having heard him speak about it, together with director Nicholas Hytner, at the Oxford Literary Festival in March and having now seen the trailer too, I've marked it down mentally as another must-see.
