You might expect that any politician who blamed Hurricane Katrina on gay pride event Southern Decadence and who claimed the "abominable and filthy practice of sodomy" had caused the spread of AIDS in Africa would be condemned and ridiculed (or invited to join UKIP). You certainly wouldn't expect them to be awarded an MBE by the Queen.
