Top tips

I'm a sucker for finding out musicians' likes, dislikes and recommendations, so Drowned In Sound's annual survey of a sample of noise-makers always makes for interesting reading. This year's feature, which comes in two parts, includes contributions from Marissa Nadler and Mary Timony and members of The Twilight Sad, Chvrches, Hookworms, Pulled Apart By Horses, Frightened Rabbit, Perfect Pussy, Errors, Eagulls and I Break Horses.

There's lots of love for the 2014 releases by Angel Olsen, St Vincent, Perfume Genius, Sharon Van Etten and Run The Jewels (of which I've only got the first two), while Sky Larkin's Katie Harkin gives a deserved doff of the cap to Cloud Nothings' Here And Nowhere Else and Aidan Moffat confesses (without any feelings of guilt) to adoring Taylor Swift's 'Shake It Off'.
