That joke isn't funny anymore

Why all the wailing and gnashing of teeth over the (probable) demise of BBC3? What set out as a breeding or testing ground for new comedy - the channel gave first airings to Little Britain, Gavin And Stacey and The Smoking Room - soon descended into a sub-ITV/C4/5 trashfest. The fact that Nick "Grimmy" Grimshaw is one of the people sufficiently upset by the proposed shut-down to complain on Twitter tells you all you need to know about what the channel has become.

The closure does beg one question: will BBC4, which has earned a reprieve, be renamed as a result?
