When past and present collide

London Paintings: images of a bygone London as perceived by an assortment of different painters, superimposed on photographs of the modern-day view. The collage of Covent Garden is one of the best, the formal artistry of Balthazar Nebot's oil painting undercut by the dustbin lorry and litter in the foreground.
