"It is the worst of British values posing as the best."
Alistair Campbell comes out with a zinger of a description of the Daily Heil during his lively Newsnight encounter with the rag's deputy editor Jon Steafel over Milibandgate.
Campbell also laid into Steafel's boss Paul Dacre, branding him a "bully", a "coward" and a "hypocrite". He had a point: watching the spectacle unfold - a dazed Steafel forced into regurgitating the party line before being savaged by a Campbell determined to out-Tucker Malcolm Tucker - was like watching a fattened pig being thrown to the slaughter. Wonder what Dacre made of it all, tucked away at a safe distance.
