Green Belt

It seems Paris has its very own answer to New York's High Line, the Petite Ceinture (Little Belt) - who knew? I love the idea of this leafy, tranquil place which few know about and which yet runs over and below busy streets and Metro stations. If it does get the High Line treatment, here's hoping any restoration/regeneration work is sympathetic and sensitive, and retains a sense of the wildscape that the abandoned railway has become.

On a related note, here are photos of a Yorkshire mansion left empty and frozen in time. While the pictures themselves are interesting, my overall response was one of alarm to read that it was abandoned in 1986 and that this effectively makes it a relic of a bygone age. I'm certainly not feeling youthful anymore...
