Damp squib

Now that I've actually investigated much-hyped newcomers Of Monsters And Men, woe betide anyone who persists in drawing comparisons to Arcade Fire. 'Yellow Light' is limp drivel, more like Mumford & Sons doing a desperate record-company-pleasing impression of The XX. 'Dirty Paws' isn't much better. Is this now piss-poor passionlessness what passes for Arcade Fire's legacy? Quick, get them back for a fourth album.

And while I'm in the process of sounding off about bands I am apparently legally obliged to refer to as "hotly tipped", new Domino signings Night Moves recently had the track 'Country Queen' featured on the Insound site, where it was described as sounding (amongst other things) reminiscent of an MGMT B-side. Hardly the most ringing of endorsements, if sadly accurate...
