Bad Guardian, daring to publish eyecatching articles like this when I'm ravenously hungry. The premise is simple: journalist shadows Thomasina Miers as she flits around Los Angeles in pursuit of authentic Mexican (and Korean-Mexican) food. And it's not even as though the descriptions of said food are particularly rich or lavish - they're just incessant, sufficiently so to turn you into one big blob of drool. Best add LA to the list of places to visit, then, as well as San Francisco.
In the comments section Miers' Wahaca chain comes in for some stick - unwarranted in my opinion. Her restaurants' food is reasonably priced, vibrant and fresh - though admittedly I don't have the benefit of being able to compare and contrast it to the real deal in its natural context. Thumbs up for her cookbook too. We've tried the quesadillas (delicious but a challenge for the arteries) and ceviche (an unusual but surprising explosion of flavours), but it's the tortilla soup we seem to keep coming back to.
