Dishonourable mentions
Interesting, isn't it, that the list of those who've refused honours from the Queen seems to consist almost exclusively of figures from the arts: Alfred Hitchcock, John Lennon, Aldous Huxley, L S Lowry, Lucien Freud, Francis Bacon, Henry Moore, J G Ballard, Roald Dahl... By contrast, dissenters from the fields of politics and business are conspicuous by their almost complete absence. Yay royalty!
