Is it just me...

... or has mainstream media coverage of the French president Nicolas Sarkozy's state visit been for the most part like reading a copy of Hello!? At one point today, the BBC site's main story included two paragraphs describing Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni's clobber in detail. It was though the 'Clothes Show' team had stormed the newsroom.

You would have thought there might have been more made of the fact, for instance, that the "Entente Formidable" that Gordon Brown's hoping will develop between the two countries is likely to herald a new era of nuclear power in the UK...
