Feel good hits of the 17th September

1. 'Superheroes Of BMX' - Mogwai
2. 'Rain On Tin' - Sonic Youth
3. 'Laser Beam' - Low
4. 'Candylion' - Gruff Rhys
5. 'Work It Out' - Gindrinker
6. 'Some Kind Of Sad' - Ringo Deathstarr*
7. 'Atlas' - Battles
8. 'Ibi Dreams Of Pavement' - Broken Social Scene
9. 'Cut Up Piano And Xylophone' - Fridge
10. 'It's Getting Boring By The Sea' - Blood Red Shoes

* Yes, they really are called Ringo Deathstarr. Perhaps worth wondering whether they're needed now that The Jesus & Mary Chain have reformed, but on 'Some Kind Of Sad' (available to hear here) the Texans really do ape the violent headrush of Psychocandy to thrilling effect. Also worth a listen are 'Swirly' and 'Starrsha', both currently up on Silence Is A Rhythm Too - a big thanks to Michael for the tip-off.

I regularly listen to that Fridge song on loop.

(I just discovered your blog after your facebook message - Paul Simms)

Admirable detective work, Paul!

I'd never been that bothered about Fridge, but then saw them at Green Man last month and was blown away. Yet to really get into their new album, but that song (which is on their MySpace) recently became a bit of an obsession...
