Clinging onto hope like a Glaswegian tramp clings onto his can of Tennents Super, us hardy Newcastle fans are tonight keeping everything crossed and promising Lady Luck all manner of sexual favours in return for a win over Feyenoord in Holland and an understrength Juventus side doing us an almighty favour by beating Kiev in the Ukraine. As a Newcastle fan, it's not often I find myself slipping into this sort of mindless optimism, but what the hell. Let's just pray we give it our best shot. Haway the lads!
