Sunday's gig at Clwb was one of those that really reaffirms the joy of live music. Whatever expectations I may have had (or not had) of Melt Yourself Down, they were infinitely exceeded.
The sax-heavy punk energy and the way George Crowley and Ruth Goller bounced into/off each other took me back to a particularly memorable ATP set from The Ex featuring Ethiopian saxophonist Getachew Mekuria as star guest. Meanwhile, the fact that MYD have been tirelessly championed by 6 Music is testament to the station's inestimable value to the nation's musical culture as it enters its third decade.
