The "Music City" tag has hung like an embarrassing millstone around Cardiff's neck for some time, as venue after venue has shut - but today, at least, it seems a little less ironic with the news that the capital will be hosting this year's 6 Music Festival.
The event, to be held over the first weekend in April, will see a number of big-name artists sharing stages, with a packed line-up including appearances from Cat Power, IDLES, Pixies and Johnny Marr, alongside buzz acts like Wet Leg, Little Simz, Big Joanie and Self Esteem. The Welsh music scene is well represented too (and rightly so) - by the likes of audiobooks, The Bug Club and a whole host of acts at Clwb as well as the familiar faces of Gruff Rhys and Gwenno.
As ever with these tightly programmed, multi-venue festivals, seeing everything will be an impossibility - but hopefully I'll find a way to sample at least some of what's on offer.
