If, as looks likely, I've been to my last gig for some time, at least I can consider myself fortunate to have made the most of the window of opportunity since the end of August. All too brief it may have been, but at least I crammed in a lot of shows: Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard, John, Squid, Working Men's Club, Shame, Gnod, Pozi, Kelly Lee Owens, Young Knives, Part Chimp, Elvana and Los Campesinos!. Those gigs - especially Kelly Lee Owens' and Los Campesinos!' performances before partisan home crowds - were a reminder of the communal joy that live music can bring.
Libertino's Christmas bash at Tramshed would have rounded things off nicely, but unfortunately it's fallen victim to the round of postponements. Whether Caribou at the end of January goes ahead remains to be seen - or even Big Brave in Bristol in April, for that matter. Thoughts with all of the artists, venues and promoters who've had to pull the plug on long-awaited shows and once again find themselves in the unenviable position of having to reschedule with little sense of when (or if) a semblance of normality will return.
