Never trust anyone who describes themselves as a "disrupter". That might be the Observer sub-editors' choice of word in relation to John Mitchinson, Dan Kieran and Justin Pollard, but it's evident from Rachael Healy's article that the founders of Unbound saw themselves as such.
Unbound's collapse is a classic tale of ambition and bold claims, followed by brutal exposure of flaws in the business model, delayed payments, staff culls, missing pensions contributions and alleged underreporting of sales.
I guess they've achieved their aim of shaking up the publishing industry - but something tells me that their authors and employees are in no mood to celebrate.
