Given that 1 has supplanted Abba's Gold as the boy's choice of in-car entertainment and that my interview with David Hurn in September touched on his pictures shot behind the scenes on A Hard Day's Night, it's little wonder that these images of the Beatles taken at two US concerts in 1964 grabbed my attention.
They're all the more remarkable for having been taken by an 18-year-old amateur, Mike Mitchell, in ambient lighting. How on earth he allowed the negatives of such stunning pictures - of, lest we forget, arguably the most famous rock group of all time, playing live shortly before they stopped touring - to languish in his basement unseen for decades is absolutely baffling.
